The Summit of Affordable Elegance with Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity Cruises may not be on many people’s radars for a short cruise to the Bahamas but from Fall to Spring, Celebrity Summit fills the bill. Celebrity Summit provides affordable elegance for all cruisers.
I had the opportunity to experience not only the elegance of Celebrity but the “extra” that is Blu restaurant for Aqua Class guests. Neither ship nor Blu was disappointing.
Celebrity Summit was built way back in October of 2001 however; it was refurbished right before the pandemic in March of 2019. The ship can hold 2218 passengers and 999 crew. It has a passenger-to-crew ratio of 1:2.22. You’ll find a great non-smoking casino, sunny pool deck with grill, rooftop terrace with outdoor movies, and my favorite, the Sunset Grill patio which looks over the wake of the ship.
During the refurbishment, more than 1000 cabins were gutted and redesigned. Much of the ship got a facelift with the main dining room with the Sunset Bar and Rendezvous Lounge all with significant upgrades.
While some areas had upgrades, there were new areas added altogether such as The Retreat and Retreat Sundeck which is an area exclusively for suite guests, featuring new whirlpools, cabanas, and additional amenities.
As I stated before, I chose an Aqua Class balcony cabin which is geared toward holistic body treatment and improvement. In all honesty, I spent very little time with this. Partly because I’m just not interested in it that much but also, the amenities were not very well displayed. As far as the “health” aspect, more work could be done on the experience. The exception was Blu Restaurant exclusively for Aqua Class guests. That experience in and of itself made my cruise.
While a shorter cruise-Thursday to Sunday – it isn’t necessarily like many weekend-party cruises. But it is still lively and fun. Also, while you may find some kids aboard, Celebrity really is geared toward adults. As a parent, I don’t think this would be what I would drag my kids on- I think they’d be bored.
In the videos below I’ve provided a vlog of my experiences aboard this elegant ship. We really enjoyed this cruise and look forward to doing it again when it returns to the Caribbean.
The first video is my cabin tour and I think it pretty much covers what you need to know.
The below video gives you an idea of how the first part of the cruise went and my experience with Blu.
This last video covers our first stop in Key West, Florida and the second half of the cruise and provides an idea of the shipboard activities.
