Wine Tasting at Stags’ Leap Winery & Vineyards-The Best Tasting Experience Ever!
We visited Stags’ Leap Winery because of its interesting history as well as its reputation for exceptional wines. Stags’ Leap Winery was a highlight of this whirlwind winetasting weekend.
It was not cheap but it was worth it for the Estate Tasting Experience. Given the opportunity- I’d do it over and over again. I simply LOVED this experience.
In 1872 the Grigsby family planted grapes on this land and 13 years later, it was transferred to W.W. Thompson & H.H. Harris. A year later, Harris gave his share to Thompson’s nephew, Horace Chase.
In 1890, the Manor House was built and used by the Chase’s as a summer retreat. The home is built from stones from a nearby hillside and inside, built of redwood and white oak. The home would be used as a resort, a post office, and even a museum with its own mummy.
An experience like no other in Napa Valley, we enjoyed an intimate tour and tasting while listening to many of the fun anecdotes from the previous ownership eras.
